Universal Copy Paper Prices
Southwest Office Supply is always working hard to make your office run as smoothly and as profitably as possible. When we can we want to let you know of upcoming price increases. Due to several factors, the price of all paper products is expected to be rising in the near future and is likely to last through the 3rd quarter of this year. If your office orders copy paper on a regular basis now may be the time to consider stocking up at today’s prices. Our Universal paper is a great choice! Happy Retirement, Doug Martin!

Doug worked for Southwest Office Supply for 14 years. This past weekend, we celebrated his retirement at the Red Cross Building at Fort Vancouver in Washington. Doug was the most successful personal account executive in the 50 year history of our company. While we are happy to wish Doug a happy retirement, he will be greatly missed.

We're really proud of the fact that, since 1967 (more than fifty years!), we've been serving the Portland-Vancouver Metro Area community with office products, cleaning supplies, furniture, and (most importantly) our commitment to customer service! Your support all these years has been incredible and by working together, we can continue to strengthen the local economy.

Here's a few idea as to why buying local is so valuable:
  • Employment - Local businesses employ local people - your neighbors, your relatives, your friends, and you.
  • Taxes - When you shop locally, your purchasing dollars support property, school, and payroll taxes.
  • Quality - Local merchants care about their reputations. They want customers to be satisfied and will handle follow-up personally.
  • Customer Service - Local merchants especially care about their customers and often get to know them personally.
  • Selection - Remember that you help create demand in your community for the products and services that you desire. Most merchants are pleased to help you with your selection, offer suggestions, or place a special order on your behalf.
  • Economic Development - Your local spending dollar re-circulates through the community. Send it out of town and it is gone forever. Tim Mitchell in Choices for Sustainable Living says: "The Good News -> A dollar spent at a locally owned store is usually spent 6 to 15 times before it leave the community. From $1, you create $5 to $14 in value within that community. The Bad News -> Spend $1 at a national chain store, and 80% of it leaves town immediately."
  • Save Money and Time - Local merchants are only a phone call away and they compete locally, which makes it easier to comparison shop. Many local businesses have websites that make shopping as easy as with large, online retailers.
  • Personal Service - When you need help deciding what to buy, local merchants gladly offer their advice and tell you about new products and services. Their expertise is at your disposal.
  • Concern - You are more than a faceless voice on the phone or a number in a computer. Local merchants are glad to see you and say "hello."

Even if you are not a local company, supporting the local economy supports you!

Teaming up with Hammermill for St. Jude

The St. Jude "Thanks and Giving Campaign" happens every year in November and December.  This is a fantastic charitable campaign that helps so many ill children and their families through a very difficult time in their lives. A portion of Hammermill sales proceeds for the months of November and December will be donated to St. Jude - in this past, this has been ~$250,000.00.  Customers also have the option to donate their rebates from the purchase of that paper, but All rebate money donated goes directly to the Hospital, and with it and other charitable donations, St. Jude is able to ensure that no parent of a patient at St. Jude ever has to worry about paying medical bills or room and board during their stay, so that their only focus is their child and helping them get back to good health.

Oregon Food Bank

The team at Southwest Office had the pleasure of visiting the Oregon Food Bank this week to deliver $250 to them from our fundraising efforts with HP back in September. They are working hard this time of year to feed local families for the holidays and we're excited to support their efforts.

It's always exciting to add to our suite of services here at Southwest. And this tool we're really thrilled about. Introducing our new mobile app called "OfficeShopper Mobile Commerce," designed to make your work life more streamlined when it comes to ordering from Southwest.

Here's what you can do with OfficeShopper:

- Using the product SKU or a specific keyword you can search our huge inventory, just like you would via the website.
- With the scanning feature, you can scan a barcode on an item from your supply closet and add a refill to your shopping cart.
- View and manage orders right in the app, making approvals, denials, and decisions on what and how much to order a breeze.

OfficeShopper is compatible with both Android and IOS devices. 

Get started - view the slideshow below for a visual of each of these steps:
1 - Download the app via Google Play or the Apple Ap Store - search for "OfficeShopper"
